The Republican's choice for vice president is Dick Cheney, former secretary of defense, who served for a number of Republican presidents.
Dick was born on January 30, 1941, in Lincoln, Nebraska. As yet, we do not have a time, but we're looking. In the meantime, we know that he has an Aquarian sun and a Pisces moon; rather a strange combination for a disciplined Republican.
However, his wife Lynne, revealed a number of things when she introduced him at the Republican convention on August 2, 2000. She said he would drag his daughters around to all the historical sites when they were in Washington....and that he loved to cook. We also know that he has had 3 heart attacks.
If we look at the chart, Taurus is located in the 3rd solar house. The Chinese overlay of archetypal meridians would have the Heart/Horse energy in that sector as well. Taurus energy usually likes to eat rather than cook, but that can come from elsewhere. Taurus energy lends itself to the more conservative area, so that even though he's an Aquarian with a Pisces moon, he certainly looks like he could have Taurus rising. So, at this point, it's a good bet that he was born between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. Currently, Saturn has been moving thru Taurus and his heart area for 2 years and has retrograded back into it after a short stint in Gemini. Saturn is stress, and Saturn is cold, and if this is his first house, then it would affect the heart more. I always want to comment that if you were born with such a configuration it doesn't mean you are doomed to heart problems. Be full of love and forgiveness, and do things to keep a healthy heart and your 'Horse/.Heart ' energy can be hale and hearty all its life.
As an Aquarian, he is a natural partner for George W. who is a Cancer with Leo rising, since Aquarius is opposite of Leo and nearly that of Cancer. If he has Taurus rising, he would be able to see George W.'s conservative views, and yet lend the eye of the Aquarian who can cut thru the hyperbole of any situation and see the truth.
It remains to be seen whether he will assume the vice-presidency - and potentially the presidency - or not (since we have the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction operating in this presidency). From a solar chart point of view, Pluto is in his 10th house of career, moving in on Mars at 17 Sag in a couple of years, and Uranus is in his Aquarian first....certainly the planet which went over his Aquarian sun in recent years and has brought him out of obscurity and 'exposed' him to the public eye.
Dick Cheny was born in the Year of the Snake, the month o the Dog, and if we're correct that he was born in Heart time between 11 am and 1 pm, the Hour of the Horse.
Born in Aquarius, it correlates to the Dog energy, and the Circulation-Sex meridian. Aquarians are known for feeling confined in one to one relationships and prefer the energy of the group. Part of that is the circ sex energy that has issues around intimacy. There can be 3 types of Dog energy. The healed one is open and loyal and loves everyone much like a puppy dog, while the duality runs from the Clinton type womanizing aspects (he was born in the Year of the Dog) to to those who don't care that much about sex and prefer it if it wasn't a big part of their life. Interestingly, the morning after his vp acceptance speech and his subsequent rhetoric, they called him the 'attack dog'. Dog people, when they are protecting their heart or what's theirs, can often go on the 'attack'. Also of note, Geo W was born in the Year of the Dog.
If Cheney was born in the Hour of the Horse, then the overlay over the Taurus energy, would have him be more expressive, and more wearing his heart on his sleeve, wanting to belong, wanting to be in relationship. In this chart, we have a number of opposing energies. Does one take precedent over the other, or have they harmonized? We will have to wait and see.
Once again, I want to reiterate that if you were born in the year, month, hour or minute of the Horse, you needn't worry about heart problems if you have a healthy lifestyle. It does say that you should be open and forgiving and not keep things inside. It's shadow is betrayal and abandonment, and when Horse/heart people come to terms with those in their lives who have been less than honorable, they will be in a healthier position.
Cheney was born in the Year of the Snake, and Snakes don't like to be challenged; don't want to be proven wrong, so they can turn it around and make you wrong first. It's the subconscious energy of the Horse, who has issues around being loved, and may feel he's unlovable waaaay down deep.

Looking at Cheney's chart, the natal chart doesn't show it (wish we knew his rising time), but in his progressed chart, on October 26th, when Uranus goes direct in motion once again (and a planet going direct from retrograde or retrograde from direct,is always a power point of energy released), Uranus, the planet of change and sudden upheaval, is squaring his Jupiter (law, politics) and the progressed Moon.
A square is a clash of energy, one pulling against the other. Progressed Jupiter and the Moon are in Taurus. Uranus in Aquarius (in its own rebellious sign) wants to break loose and be independent, while Taurus energy likes the status quo. When Uranus squares Jupiter and Moon in Taurus on 10/26, it'll be interesting to see whether some sudden move is revealed. And, while Pluto in Sag currently has not yet moved in to square his prog.Mercury in Pisces, it does show that it is in orb, and Pluto in a dogmatic sign, squaring Mercury (communication) in the sign of Pisces, which is hates confrontation and moves 'behind the scenes' to affect the outcome, could very well show that something like this is in the works.
Currently, Saturn is in Taurus, in the heart section of his chart. We surmised above that this might be his rising, since it would tend to make him more conservative. Even if it should not turn out to be his rising sign, the heart meridian would be there anyway, overlaying Taurus, and he has Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus in Taurus....quite a volatile situation for someone's heart. The expansion of Jupiter, the constriction of Saturn there as a natal planet, and Uranus is in the mix to fibrillate the electrical energy at times. So, while the rumor circulated in September that Cheney might bow out due to health reasons, this looks like the real thing...as Saturn is retrograding close to his natal Uranus. The stress and negotiations going on now, must be horrendous......and just what was that bandaid on Bush's face for a few days? I doubt it was an infection.
